Reset the ARIA desktop app

Reset is destructive. Resetting ARIA removes chat history, phenotype logs, meal plans, device registrations, and local SDL data. Back up anything you need before you reset.

Before you reset — back up

  1. Open Settings → Backup and create a full backup.
  2. Export any in-progress Phenopackets from Today Board or the Research Mode share modals.
  3. Export your phenotype log CSV for clinician records.
  4. Save any generated documents (LOMN letters, care summaries) somewhere outside the ARIA folder — the reset removes them.

Soft reset — clear chat but keep family data

  1. Open Settings → Data Management → Clear chat history.
  2. Confirm with your PIN if one is set.
  3. Restart ARIA.

This keeps your family profile, phenotype log, device registrations, and SDL data. Only conversation history is cleared.

Full reset — wipe everything

If the app is in a broken state and a soft reset doesn't help:

  1. Close ARIA completely (including the tray icon).
  2. Open File Explorer and navigate to %APPDATA%\aria-family-navigator.
  3. Move the entire folder somewhere safe (or delete it if you don't need anything in it).
  4. Restart ARIA. It will initialize as a fresh install.

Pro Tip: The %APPDATA%\aria-family-navigator folder contains your local SQLite database, cached ontologies, backup exports, and everything else ARIA stores locally. Moving it rather than deleting lets you restore later if you change your mind.

Still stuck?

If neither a soft reset nor a full reset solves your issue, drop into the ARIA Slack workspace and post in the #support channel. Include your ARIA version number (Settings → About) and a description of what you see. The team watches that channel.
